www.amea.eu was a crowdsourcing web aplication started in efforts at mapping out problems of accessibility in Greek public spaces for people with disabilities.
The project entitled ΑμεΑ hotspotting – ΑμεΑ meaning people with disabilities- was presented at the 2nd showcase of labs.opengov.gr on May 31st at the National Research Institute in Athens. Essentially a call for proposals, labs.opengov.gr is a Greek government run project to promote e-gov applications in Greece.
The project’s proof of concept was built on a Joomla/Sobi2 system and was later moved to the Ushahidi platform for collecting and visualising geo-localised information. It’s relative success was in that it was received with enthusiasm by many, gathering some 500 facebook likes in a couple of weeks, some very heart warming supportive emails and an article/interview at Kathimerini newspaper
The succesful project’s facebook page was managed by Petros Sarantopoulos. The project is no longer active and the domain is no longer in our possession.
